My friend and I went for a hike today (fishing was secondary) to Cerulean Lake under Sun God Mountain in Pemberton.

It was a long drive. 2.5 hours from the North Shore. The spur you see on google maps heading towards the creek is heavily grown over. It is walkable. Walk to the switchback, then turn right and walk towards the creek (you should hear it clearly). Be aware this is extremely active Grizzly habitat. These majestic creatures are suffering from human pressure all over the province so please travel respectfully through their home. Have a loud conversation while hiking up the creekbed to give them lots of time to hear you coning and walk away long before you ever see them. Problems occur when you startle a bear or come between a mother and cub. Neither of these situations will occur if you keep your head up and make some noise.

Lots of challenges in this creek as you head up the hill. Mud, thick bush, downed trees, loose and crumbling stream banks, wasps (picked up 12 stinns on the way down today), bears/moose/elk, etc. Near the top is the decent sized waterfall which you will need to go around. Easy scrambling with Class 3 crux if you keep it tight along rhe rocks. No class 3 if you follow the talas field all the way up.

The lake is gorgeous. I heard it referred to as the most beautiful lake in the world. I think whoever daid that hasn’t seen all the lakes in the world (or even all the lakes here in South Coastal BC), but it is pretty spectacular. Check out the pics.

Knnn

Awesome post, thanks for sharing.

You weren't tempted to dip a line in the lake?
cagey

great post. I have the same question as Knnn, any fish?
Gearbox, I'm not the only one who cannot understand /read English. It says the bear walks away before you see it. We will have to get together for a reading lesson.

Sorry my cell phone typing is not the best.

Yes we fished. Caught lots of tiny fish. Lake elevation is 1700 meters above sea level per the Sharphooks page.

What I meant is that the human should be loud so the grizzlys hear you and casually stroll away long before you ever even see them.
