Author Topic: Alouette Lake Area

Been searching on EarthGoogle and found this intresting spot near Alouette Lake. The upper lake and to the NE and up the mountain sorta. Anyone know what this lace is and what lake that is? It looks like it could be either a logging camp or somebodies holiday home.
Thanks for any info.

Don't bother with Flo.. and Morgan the fishing is very slow. I have never hooked anything in either. I think Florence has been declared barren.
The pic is of Pine lake Prison camp. Cheers.

OK guys glad to see that others are using Google earth. To use it go to Google & type in earth, install the download & the rest is easy. You can view pretty much anywhere on the planet. Even area 51! For an equally usefull or perhaps better view of things, get yourselves a copy ofthe Backroad Mapbook published by Mussio Ventures. Without a doubt THE BEST collection of maps for the outdoorsman/woman. To get to Florence etc. drive east on Dewdney trunk rd until you get to the Stave dam turn off, head north and access the logging road on the west side of Stave lake & drive @17 k to Florence. On the way you will pass Sayers & Morgan lakes, Florence is the 3rd. Tough fishing for sure BUT I know for a fact that it contains rainbows that reach 4 lbs. I read that there are also Cutties & Brookies. Fish with a float tube near the island on the north end, use a sinking tip line with a chironomid or nymph. Now is not the best time,April to June & September October. The lake is NOT barren, just really really really hard to catch fish in it.However it CAN be done. Feel free to post questions & I'll answer what I can if you need more info. Tight lines & sore arms:-) PS the prison you asked about ran a hatchery a few years ago, not sure if they still do. If they do, fish near the net pens with power bait & try to keep count. My last time there, about 7 yrs ago I caught 37 fish in 4 hours. I'm sure I caught some more than once.

The place you are referring to is the old Boulder Bay Youth Custody Centre. It has since been closed down because of the cutbacks when Gordon Campbell took over. It was a beautiful spot and a great place to work. The lake is Pine Lake, the large building on the left is the gymnasium and following the road past the gym takes you to Allouette Lake. It is still private property and you can not get access through the locked gates and I would not try getting there from Allouette Lake either because of security dogs.

Cheers, thanks for the info guys.
