Author Topic: Osoyoos lake fishing

Hey there everyone, I am heading up to osoyoos lake next week and I was wondering if anyone has some tips and tricks for the lake. I will be fishing from either shore or at times a kayak (mostly shore though) and will be staying near the bridge. I would love to catch literally anything that puts up a fight. Thanks for the info!

Hi boom I have fished osoyoos for years the bridge is a great spot for bass use spinner baits and worms on the bottom if you kayak fish the north end of the lake near the orchards with tubes senkos and jigs you'll get lots of smallies. If you fish Haynes point use crankbaits bluegill and pumpkinseed paterns are great if you fish the grass use a hollow body frog like livetargets they are my fav. All of these baits are universal for each location but they are what I have had success with all these baits work well for sqaws too. Carp are great on osoyoos go to the swimming area next to safari beach beach resort put a large chunk of bread on with just a hook and let it float on surface it may sound wierd but it works I had stayed at at the resort and done that from dock and you see them come and grab it a few feet from the dock it's great but it's private although I had seen people not staying there come on and no one said anything.

From what I remember of that area this time of year, you should focus on bikinis on the the beach. Not a lot of good fishing .Vasseux has bass if you can make it up that way

Thanks for the wonderful info luma, it will be put to good use

I'd think you would follow prunehands advice and look for bikinis

No problem be sure to post some pics

I'd rather catch some fish cagey, although his advice will be remembered

I forgot to take pictures of the bass but the biggest one I had was around 2.5 lbs, there were a lot tho. The carp weighed in at 5.7lbs

Nice fish I'll be up there soon what worked for you and where if you don't mind me asking?

But how were the bikinis? As nice as that big carp?

Unfortunately there were very few

And luma just bread by starlight marina

boom, you have learned a lot about fishing since you have been a Sharphooks member but as you become yet more experienced you also need to improve your skills at bikini watching. I cannot believe Osoyoos had very few in August. It cannot have changed that much since I was your age(lol). Nice carp though and good report.
On The Dry

thas a massive carp what ya catch it on salmon eggs??
