Topic: Feeding rainbow trout |

My dad's friend has three of these awesome trout ponds, but recenty stocked one with 1000 rainbows in July! Between July and October, I fed them 3mm fish pellets. Since then, we've stepped it up to 5mm pellets. However, I went there the other day to feed them, and they wern't near as active with the food as they we're before in earlier months. I'm not supprised because of the time of the year, but should there be something else that I could be feeding them right now? Shrimp?

Ignore that other person. The reason that they are so sluggish is because of the time of year. When the water is colder, they become more slugish and dormant, wanting to move less distances. Fish try to exert the least amount of energy to maintain their motabolism. They'd rather the fish pellets probably just sink down to them instead of the top water frenzy you're probably used to. Just keep feeding them and what not and you know, let nature take its path.

haha, can't tell, but the other day i caught a 5 pounder on a little green beed head.
