Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone. Lucky me! I got fly gear for Christmass this year. Enough to get me out and get me goin.
As I have not grown up in this area ( Campbell River for me ) and am only just getting back into fishing. I was wondering if there was any advice on areas to fly fish for me close to or around Pitt Meadows. I have been given a 6 weight 9 foot Dragon Fly rod and would like to go fishing for trout. Have no waders or boat so for now it will be from shore.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Troop it out and try the Stave in the walkable parts along the gravel. Sure to be some rainbows in there (use nymphs at this time of the year, especially big stonefly nymphs). Also, if anyone knows where theres some slough access that you wont need waders, winter is a killer time for sea-run Cutts. Use muddlers, leeches, pheasant tails, etc.

Thats great. I'll be sure to go check those places out and see what I can pull out of the drink. Realy appreciate your time.

Looking a little further into it, do I just park at the damn and access the lake from there or is there a better approach to the walkable parts?

Not Stave Lake, its huge. I was meaning the Stave River. Use nymphs in there. If your lucky, there might be a small hatch coming off of something, maybe PMD's or something. If so, stick to emergers just under the surface film or use Emergent/Cripple patters. Anyways, your best bets would to stick to small streams and rivers at this time of the year.

welcome to your new wonderful addiction. It's only the start of your gear purchases.
I started 4 years ago and have almost exclusively used fly gear since. I just feel it's the purest way to hunt fish especially if you tie your own flies. Nothing beats catching fish on something you created.
Im going to build myself my own flyrod this year.
Like I said the hole is only going to get deeper.
