Anybody doing any ice fishing? I do quite a lot of hardwater fishing in and around the Okanagan. Just wondering if anyone else is and what lakes are hot for some big ones?

Ya, I try to get out atleast couple of times over the winter. I live in Oliver, so i find the closest and best spot is Bear(Ripley) lake. I just use hook and worm and usually max out in no more than 30 min. Where do you usually go?

I go Ice fishing around the Merritt area. Almost any lake is good at this time. There are lots there. Use a Hook and a worm.

How big do they get in Ripley in the winter and where 'bouts do you catch them?
I usually fish Darke Lake behind Summerland because it is nice and close. But also get into Glen Lake, Munro Lake, and Osprey Lake. Have had great success ice fishing these lakes but am looking for some larger fish in some deeper water. Not sure if they go deep in the winter though. I find that they linger up, 6-12 below the ice

The grey circles show where we almost always fish. THhe fish usually range in the 13-16 inch range area, but i've got a couple around 20. I'm probably going out this weekend actually, so i'll let you know how the fishing is if i go.

i caught a 18-20 inch 'bow right at the edge of the shoal where your circle at the middle of the lake is in August when i was up there for a week... beautiful lake..

Ya, that's cool. Me and my friend are gunna go up there for spring break with our quads, tents, and belly boats for spring break. It's a good spot for only a 20 min drive.
