anyone been out yet? I've been too busy but hope to get out one day this week.
mzmann

not yet cagey but have the itch as well.....tell me when and where and I will do my best to be there....can just email me as well.
cagey

will get in touch if I get out. Maybe Sunday?? My buddy said there has been one fish every second day but they have been over 20 pounds. He has been out at Lumby.
if you get a day cleared up before then let me know. I'd prefer to go to the slide hole but as we proved last year it is a bit of a waste of time early on so will likely go to Lumby.
BushFish

Anybody with sone more info? I'm hoping to start hitting it hard . I usually fish Kingfisher to Cooke creek, I've never fished above Mabel, am excited for new territory.
cagey

I usually fish the slide hole . It usually picks up towards August 20th. Until the 15th the best bet is usually the Lumby end just below the dam in what I call the canyon pool. I have not been able to make it out yet as I have been over run by company and it is a long ways a way for me ! maybe see you at the river in a week.
gearbox

I would think there has to be lots of salmon going through there already. guys have been catching them plenty at the sicamous part of the shuswap for awhile now. for sure they are in mabel already.
cagey

they bomb right up to mable without stopping much in the lower river until later in the month. these early fish spawn in the lumby end whereas later fish spawn in the lower plus other creeks etc. they are hard to catch right now in the lower end as they do not hold up in the pools like they will later
BushFish

Went out on Wednesday. Fished a couple different holes from interpretive center down....no fish. Didn't see any signs at all other than one 24ish laying on beach at cooke cr. Heading out to South Thompson this morning, I'll let you know.
cagey

thanks for the report. was supposed to hit the Thompson today but slept in. maybe tomorrow.
BushFish

Anybody have any luck?
cagey

a buddy fishes the slide hole every day. he says only 1 or 2 fish a day. real slow. I have not had a bite on the Thompson. lots of dead sox. maybe today. got to go try!
cagey

nothing again this morning. not a fish jumping even! Where are all the springs?
mzmann

brutal....I hammered it all the long weekend, south T and cooke to chucks, no luck and seen nothing at south T and at shuswap river I lost 4 yes I said 4, lol (3 threw the hook and 1 leader break) and seen MANY more corner through slide! although only about a half dozen taken that I seen in both days I was there.
cagey

I haven't had any luck in the T. so tried Little Shuswap Lk. We each had a fish on for about 3 seconds and somehow I caught a fresh water clam! It swallowed my hook! I can't explain how as I was not supposed to be anywhere near the bottom!!!! My buddy and I almost fell out of the boat due to excessive laughing!
Normally there are fish jumping all over. We never saw one jump......where are the springs?
mzmann

ahaha, thats funny!...and yes I hear you on where are all the springs!....barely a sniff of them on the south T yet really. Talked to a friend who fishes ashcroft regularly and he said only 1 or 2 a day have been caught there lately as well. Going to try with a friend on tues/wed/thurs out in the boat so will see how that goes.
cagey

one of the fellows who fish the South T. all the time is wondering if the chemicals leaking into the system from the mine spill at Likely has confused the fish so they cannot find their way home. He has lived by the river his hole life and has never seen fish so non-existent. Whatever the reason my roe supply is dwindling and I haven't had a bite yet. Last year was bad but....
mzmann

wouldn't doubt that for an instant cagey...even a couple of the springs pulled from shuswap river were "peeling" unfortunately.....will shoot you an email should I get lucky with does next week.
Kamicon

I see a direct correlation between native seining in kamloops lake and the lack of springs. Remember last year they didn't open up a until about September 10 or so. After they did the catching in the south thompson went way down. I had 7 in the boat before an 1 after. Now they have opened that up since the beginning and no one is catching a thing... But the natives are fishing for sustenance... More like cah flow. Too bad. I thinK they should fish like everyone else. One rod per person and max 2 a day chinook and 4 sockeye. Wonder how long they would last out there...
mzmann

sad to say but sounds about right.
cagey

the fish finally showed their faces this morning. I had my first bite of the season fishing the T. A few fish were jumping as well. Tomorrow morning might finally be my day......hope!
cagey

another bite but nothing hooked. My buddy lost one at the net so they are showing. the fish was very colourful and would have been released anyway .

Out fished by my 8yr old this morning....was her birthday today and she reeled in and landed he first salmon at 16lbs!...Damn proud dad today and a very happy little girl!!.....around 8-10 total seen caught today (south t)
