Jackie , if u`ve done research on Skagit river - before even getting to exit 168 on highway 1 - there is 1 more lake just before it , it calls "jones lake" . "silver lake" on ur way to it , and ross lake close by ( u can fish Skagit only from 26mile bridge and to the ross lake ) its about 10km drive to the lake from 26miles . but u need to remember that silver, skagit are single barbless hook , bait ban , catch and release only .ross lake the same but u can keep 3 trouts over 33cm . also if u wanna camp , I can tell u free spot and no fireban . u can email me .

by the way if u still wanna hit Skagit - check weather before u go , last weekend was brutal in that area , Skagit was ranging on Saturday (brown water) , I left around 10am on sunday and water was almost clear ... keep in mind rains .

There is a fire ban in the whole province.

The Chwk/Vedder has lots of eager trout (aka residualized steelhead). They aren't big ( a big un is 10") however they are plentiful, eager, and not shy.

bckid, no there is not a fire-ban province wide. only select areas are still on bans.

vedder/Chilliwack is ranging now.... + more rain is coming , wouldn't even bother with flyfishing in it with this conditions .

Try fishing one of these local rivers in the lower mainland with a dry fly. Pinners galore, but a lot of fun and eventful. Realistically I should of brought the bait caster though lol, just love catching fish on the floating line with a dry fly.
