Author Topic: Lake advice

Hey guys!
so I've bought a boat. 11.6 foot v bottom. I took it out to Cultus lake and found it to be too busy for me. The small boat got pushed around by wakeboarders and tubers that came to close for comfort.

What would lakes would you suggest for me that are not so busy with larger boats?
I would do Cultus and Allouette in the fall, but for now I'll stay away.
thanks guys!

I also only have a 55lb minn kota. I will buy a gas motor one day but this season all I have in the mnn kota

PS Kris, My email got hacked/erased... or something. Please email me on as I do not have yours saved anywhere

I see alot of people in inflatable dinghy with trolling motors on Nita lake. They seem to do well for small kokanee and rainbows.

If you are looking mid/lower valley; Stave and Hayward lakes are lower use lakes. Hayward doesn't allow gas motors. Stave has a nice launch and won't get out on the main lake, but there is fair fishing across the channel from the launch. Mill lake in Abbotsford has speed restrictions, but I'm not sure how busy it is right now.

Hey James, tried that address but it doesn't seem to work either.

PS: James Busser has some great lake write-ups on his site, Check out

Hi guys as concerning the local lakes for James I would not even touch Alouette way too much traffic
And as for Stave I was there last week and they still have not put in the dock.
From my understanding they have a tender out for new docks, no idea why as the docks last week for awesome.

Stave in the Channel is not bad and Pitt as well in the channel.
let me know if you are going this week as I will be heading out again

Hi Speed

the new docks are in at stave lake the trouble is the old docks are still on the parking lot so the parking is very limited
