Hey, guys!
So my dad and i have recently bought a boat, and we have been wanting to fish for cod, rock fish, flounder and sockeye salmon for years in the Vancouver Island area. We are very new to ocean fishing and salmon fishing in the ocean.
So my question is, where is a good place to start?
What are some good bays/areas for bottom fishing? And what jigs/lures are good for cod/flounder.
I have searched the web for hours, but i haven't found much.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you'll find better info on youtube. there's tons of vids. a green spinnow worked wonders for us for cod and rockfish.

So i am guessing just boat around until i find a nice bottom and jig from there?
What depth is good for cod/rockfish.
Were thinking of going to Ucluelet

Thanks a lot guys.
I definitely have an idea of what to do now.
What about for halibut, do i put some salmon on a hoochie and just let it float around on the bottom until one of them comes around, or jig it aswell?
gearbox

yup, white and glow/green spinnow was the magic colour for us.

What is a spinnow exactly?
I looked for it on google but couldn't find anything.
Is it like a white rubber grub, or like a white metal fish lure?
gearbox

it's like a buzzbomb.

we used about a 5-6 inch one. but when we were out offshore, we were using a big root beer coloured grub. just like the smaller bass lures, but a really, really big one. it was out-fishing the real bait.

I see, i will definetely give it a try
