Heading to Tunkwa this weekend. Anyone have any pointers for me? Were gonna rent a boat to troll so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again and tight lines!

I was up there two years ago and nobody was catching anything so we went in the boat, tied on a hook and stuck a worm on the end and sent it over. After about 5 minutes we started moving to somewhere ells and as soon as we moved we got one. It was a 14 incher. A little later we got another one on and we saw it (at least 18 inches) go under the boat and snap the line. We were up there for a durby and the biggest fish caught was a 4.8lb Rainbow Trout. Good luck, and post some pics of your fish!!

This is one of the many fish I caught at Tunkwa in mid may.
That lake is so great to fish in the evening or early morning and if your fly fishing bring yourself a good asortment of chronimids! Good Luck.

That's a beautiful color. I went a picked up a few more chronomids for fly fishing. I got my girlfriend a spinning rod but Im gonna throw on a split shot and put a chronomid on her rod and see what happens. If anybody knows any color combos, please let me know. Im hoping my girlfriend can get a few on my fly rod, so she can understand the fun in this past time!

Tight lines...

Well, I've never been to Tunkwa, but a good rule of thumb is to match it to the bottom. Chirnomids are a prey-food, and therefore must match in to their surounding to avoid beeing eaten by trout, and other carivorous animals, such as Darners. This is why trout go nuts for them when they are hatching; as they are just suspended protien. Good colours of choice for me, are red, black, green and brown. Purple works too sometimes for somereason. What ever shop you buy them from, ask the person there about colour and size. Anyways, I can't say much for that lake.

Good luck, and post some pics.
