u can cut off the heads and use thread to tie them to a 3/0 or 4/0 Octopus. Steelhead are rather fond of them.

when i used bait years and years ago, ghost shrimp(bugs) was the bait of choice for me. They definitly work better when they are alive. The way i used to use them was put the hook through them(didn't cut the heads off) and then use very fine wire to keep them on the hook, otherwise any bit of resistance can knock them off your line

the best way to keep them is to change the water every 2 days.when you pump them put them in a bucket with some salt water and put extra water in a different bucket so you have fresh water.it's possible to keep them for up to five days this way.the smaller red ones are the females and are preffered by steelhead.be careful not to over harvest the females letting the real small ones go and try to pump different areas.
