Flyfishing is an exciting way to get fish. But in order to become good at this you will have to learn a lot of things.

Idea is simple - diet of a wild trout consists of insects and other underwater life. Many insects spend considerable period of their lives under water (mosquitto, dragon fly, etc.) Then, when the time comes for them to hatch/emerge into flying adults, they will swim/crawl from the bottom to the surface.

This is the time trout is hunting them down. In great numbers.

Task of a fly fishermen is to identify insect hatches, find the right spot and properly immitate this particular insect (form, color, size, movement, depth, etc.) If you will manage to do it properly - you will get a LOT of action - as if you are fishing in an aquarium

You heard a lot of "those stories" when fish was biting like crazy, didn't you? Get ready....

... with flyfishing this happens EVERY DAY. Sure, there are certain "feeding times", but you can say that fish eats constantly. And this is a whole art of discovering the key. Well, you have a choice of 3000+ flies. And you also need to know how to present them properly.

Sounds difficult? But this is exactly the excitement of this sport. When you actually landed the fish - you know that it was not just luck - this is your true success!

This is why fly fishing is an elite sport! This is all about your knowledge and attention.

Tight lines and sharp hooks!

I tie my own flies fpr the kamloops area, but leeches & chironomids, also bloodworm & of course the array of doc spratleys.......guess I am spoiled with over 1500 lakes within 1 hr. drive for me.
