Hey Mike, I live in Coquitlam so I cant help you with a fly shop but I just started fly tieing a few months ago and LOVE it! Could you post pictures of your steelhead flys once you tie some up please? Right now Im working on some Coho flys. Havent had a Coho on yet thou, just Pinks, Chum and 1 Spring that eventually spanned off.

Trout waters in Kelowna is pretty decent for most fishign supplies but I find is a bit pricey for some things. Kenkraft just east of Vernon is a good alternative if one heads out that way fishing or just doesn't mind the 45min drive from kelowna. Haven't really got into fly fishing a whole lot myself yet as im having to much fun with gear still but I know both shops are decently stocked for most things fishing. Kenkraft probably a bit more so.

Cheers,

fish22. both of the steel I caught on the fly last winter were caught on leeches..a blood sucking leech with red head and black tail..and a black/purple bunny leech.
this winter I am going to focus on leeches and intruders for dec/jan
feb/mar I will add a indicator and single egg patterns to my arsenal..also I'll drift under my indicator a roeish looking thing I tie..my bro caught his only one last year on one i tied.
if you look at my photos there is a pic of the roefly..
after breaking my 7wt switch awhile back Ive been mostly fishing gear..drifting wool.
if i was tying coho flies for a river ""chartrouse" would be my color of choice..something with chartrouse over orange..
comets are what worked for me in the ocean off the beach for coho.

blue/black are wicked steelhead colors as well
I"ll post what i tie in mid november
