Author Topic: where's the best place to catch a salmon

I've been fishing the Vedder and the kilby park area for the last 2 years. I have yet to catch something!! Yhe local tackle shops are very helpful and I have been very observant of fishing etiquette(as I'm relatively new to fishing) as to not piss other people off, But I'm finding it frustrating being the places at supposedly the right times and with apparently the right lures with no luck!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your not picky about what kind of salmon you catch, people are getting a lot of chum at stave. They're easy to cath and put up a good fight.Check out the other postings for information on chum at stave, and Mapquest is a good website to show you how to get there.Hurry though I think now is the best time to go but I'm not the expert.
Fishin is bad medicine

yes it's true, the stave has lots of Chums but there's also lots of people. Not saying vedder isn't crowded but if you did some exploring on the Vedder you can find spots that hold lots of fish and few or no people.

I'm not really picky..would just like to catch something. My old man and I are going to try the Harison mills area from a boat and maybe the chehalis this Friday, but I will try the Vedder soon and do some searching forsome different spots. Any tips on lures etc...?

just try fishing this setup... usually works for me...use a styro foam float that goes down to a sliding lead weight, followed by small swivel...then have a 2 foot leader down to a hook tied with a bait loop, then you can fishing with either pink or peach wool they both usually work for chum and spring...good luck!
