Hello I've been reading some reports that salmon fishing is picking up and in fall I purchesed a bigger boat and a bunch of gear and want to head out on the ocean in search of some salmon, my question is where is there a good place to fish this time of year? and where are there some boat launches to launch from near these locations on the mainland. Thanks, James

launch at ambelside and go to the south of bowen island or as its called the hump. I tried doing some kayak fishing around ambleside but their not there yet or I was just unlucky.

Hey guys i got an 18' lund pike, ended up launching at ambleside and trolling from the light house to bowin island. Launched at high tide at around 530 was the second truck there and when i got back at low tide there was 6 truck and trailers stuffed in there but beware it is a huge pain in the neck to bring the boat back at low tide. I was thinking of trying near lions gate and ubc someone mentioned its good fishing there and also launching at cates park, but i was woundering if anyone knows anything about this launch? like fees or eaze of launch. Thanks guys, Tight Lines, James

Cates park is a great boat launch. I recommend it if you dont mind the ride to the bay from there. As of parking I dont know how much it cost if it costs anything. It may be free for boat a trailers.

nice pic.
i love that view. sitting back in the boat, watching the bend of the rod, just waiting for the reel to start screaming.

. my friend and i travel from tsawwasen and usually make the skip across the pond to the gulf islands, its a ways but, when fish are coming aboard thats all that matters. only a 20-30 min cross if i remember right depending on how straight you go across. Its better to go straight and then up the coast in smoother water. we use a 16ft harbourcraft. Even trolling the sides of the tanker ships work.
If you do this check the weather, and tides and conditions it can get rough out there. and be prepared to camp the night if you get stuck on the other side.
Hi Speed

you can also put your boat in at McDonald beach in Richmond it is on the north arm of the fraser river takes you out by ubc and popular marker
