Hey Hey. Just got back from Rolley Lake in Mission. Alot of swimmers and people. Oh yeah, Lots of fish. Cutty's and 'bows every four minutes.
I suggest a a 5wt or 6wt for this lake. Micro leech, or red Dock Spratley. keep it small.
Get deep, we were using a type three and four full sinking fly line. Float tubers were outfishing. But Everybody else was using hardware so i suggest the fly (Fly Fishers were outfishng three to zero!)
Anyways, anybody else got anything to say about Sayres lake it would help.
winter steel

Sayres is a tough lake to fish, it is a deep "crater" lake with few shoals that flyfishermen can exploit. In certain parts it is over 200 feet deep. With that said it has big fish as every year chaps pull out bows over 5 pounds. There is a make shift hatchery that has pens on the lake and every once in awhile fish will escape. I think you have to maintain a minimum distance of 100-200 feet (not sure exactly, there is a sign)from the pens. In terms of what to use, your standard deep water patterns will do (half-backs, leeches, dragons, etc...) Feeding times play role on that lake! Good luck and tight lines!
The Yak

i heard somewhere that the hatchery on that lake is no longer being used. And yes there are big fish in that lake but they are really hard to catch, actually the fishing in that lak is tough no matter what the size.... But it's always worth a try i guess. Stick to the south shore would be my suggestion
